CALL FOR STORIES

Beginning June 1, 2011, we will call for stories to be included in our new anthology, Hauntings from the Snake River Plain. Here are the details.

The Other Bunch Press is seeking stories for its anthology, Hauntings from the Snake River Plain. All submissions must deal with hauntings or ghost stories that take/took place in Idaho.

Submission Guidelines:

1) The following word limits will be considered:

  • For fiction, nonfiction and essays – up to 3500 words.
  • For poetry – up to 40 lines

2) All submissions must be original, unpublished fiction, nonfiction, essays or poetry relevant to the anthology theme, Idaho ghost stories. You may submit more than one story. There is no entry fee.

3) Use standard manuscript format–double-spaced, 12pt serif font Times, Times New Roman, or Courier New with one-inch margins. Poetry may be single-spaced. Please incorporate your submission into the body of an email or attach entry as a PDF file. No other attachments will be opened.

4) Include your name, address, email address, phone number and word count with your submission.

5) Submissions will be accepted until December 31, 2011. You will be notified in late April of 2012 if your story has been accepted. We plan to release the anthology in the fall of 2012.

6) If your story is accepted, you will receive one printed copy of the book.

7) Simultaneous submissions are acceptable, but please notify us if your work is accepted for publication elsewhere.

8) Click here to submit by email. Please put the words “Hauntings submission” in the subject line. We are accepting email entries only.

And lastly, have fun writing. We envision this anthology as a collection of great stories about ghosts and hauntings in Idaho. We know you have many stories to tell. This is your opportunity to share them with others, as well as see some of your work in print.

CRITIQUE OPTION

Often writers like feedback on their stories. If you would like a critique, please send by snail mail three copies of your work along with a check or money order for $15.00 to The Other Bunch Press, P O Box 5073, Twin Falls, ID  83303. If you want your copies returned, please also include a SASE large enough to fit the manuscript and be sure it has the proper amount of postage affixed. A critique of your work does not guarantee your story will be selected, but it can provide you with important feedback. You will receive three individual critique sheets with feedback on mechanics, grammar, usage, punctuation, character and plot development, and story resolution.
